Busy days…?

久々の更新になりました。
前回のブログが3月15日、、、放置しすぎ。
Long time no blog!
I haven’t written anything in ages…

この間に息子の誕生日、こどもの日、旦那の誕生日、、、
脳内アップデートは結構していたんですけど、ダメですね、なんだか時間がない。
漫画を読む時間はあるのに。笑
Since I last wrote an update, it’s been my son’s first birthday, Japanese boy’s day and my husband’s birthday… I updated a lot in my mind actually, but have had no time to blog.
Actually that’s not completely true, I did make time for reading Japanese cartoons on my iPad 😉

さて、肝心な編み物の話。
息子の1歳の誕生日にこれだけは！と思ってせっせとかぎ編みの、、、
I really wanted to finish this before my son’s birthday…

アクリルで編んだからかウネウネしちゃって、
ちょっと気にくわないけど、時間がないから良しとしました。
三角のも、ちくちく縫い縫いしましたよ。
もちろん旦那の誕生日にも再利用。
I used acrylic wool, so they are quite wonky.
Ummm… I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the end result but it became a bit of a rush to finish.
I made normal bunting as well.
Of course, I put them up for my husband’s birthday too.

息子に誕生日プレゼントとして急に思い立って編み出したカーディガン。
パターン通りなんだけど身幅が結構あって、
編み足して4歳くらいまで着れるかも？
I suddenly decided to knit this cardigan as a birthday present for my son.
It was the right size, but the body is quite wide.
I wonder if I keep extending it, can my son wear it until he is 4 years old…?

意外と好評だったのが、フェルトで作った誕生日のクラウン。
マジックテープを広めに付けたから1歳児から33歳児まで対応可。
The felt birthday crown I made had good reviews.
I sewed the Velcro in long strips, so it fits all head sizes between that of a 1 year old boy and 33 year old boy!

放置していた3ヶ月の間に、我が家では大きな決断をしていました。
あんまりまだ実感はないけど、忙しい夏になりそうです。
ふふふー♡
While not updating this blog for the previous 3 months, we made a big decision…
I think it will be the busiest summer we have ever had!

Happy birthday my mum-in-law!

秘密のプロジェクトの正体はこれでした〜！
The secret project was this!

義母の60歳のバースデープレゼントでカーディガンを編んでいました！
パターンはRavelryからMon petit gilet raye。
思いっきりお母さん好みだったから色も指定色で。
使用針は4号と5号。
日本の鍼を使用している方の多くは4号で編み上げている方が多いのだけど、お母さんの欲しいサイズに合わせるために5号にしてみました。
I have been knitting a cardigan for my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday!
The pattern is ‘Mon petit gilet raye‘ from Ravelry.
I used the wools recommended for this pattern because they were just her style!
The needles I used were JP#4 and JP#5.
Most of Japanese knitters used JP#4 for this, but I wanted to make the size that she wanted, so I chose JP#5.

久しぶりに編み応えのある作品。
でも時間を見つけるのがなかなか難しくって、睡眠時間を削って、風邪引いて、最後はフラフラ朦朧と仕上げました。笑
思った以上にお母さんに似合ってて、疲れも一気に吹き飛んだ。
いやぁ本当、間に合って良かった〜。
It is the biggest project I have knitted recently.
It was quite difficult to make time to finish this… I cut down on my sleep and I caught a cold but in a dream-like state at 3:30 in the morning on Tuesday night, I finally finished it!
But it was worth it… this cardigan suits her very much!
It blew all my tiredness away!

お誕生日おめでとう！
同じパターンで自分用の毛糸も用意していることは言っていないけど、
いつの日かこっそりお揃いで登場しちゃうから♡
Happy birthday mum-in-law!
I have secretly set aside enough wool to knit the same cardigan for myself…
Someday, I’ll appear in a matching outfit!♡

Knitting club!

今日から編み部始めました！
I started a knitting club with my friends today!

初回の今日はみんな大好き地元の毛糸屋さんに行ってその後お向かいのおしゃれカフェでランチ、そのままダダッと我が家でニッティング。
At first, we went to the knitting shop in Cricklade which we love. After that we had lunch at the cafe near by, and then did some knitting at my house!

あー楽しかったなぁ。
I really enjoyed it 🙂

大切なプロジェクトの隙に編んだ息子の帽子。
I knitted a hat for my son in the middle of the ‘special project’ I’m doing.

だんだん赤ちゃんから男の子に変わっていく彼。
前に編んだひつじ帽が似合わなくなってきたので、ちゃちゃっとあんまり考えずに編みました。
He is changing from a baby to a little boy gradually, so the lamb hat doesn’t suit him any more now.

褪せた色合いが古着っぽくていい感じ。
ポンポン帽ってやっぱり可愛い。
The faded colour looks good- like old clothes.
A hat with pom-pom is very cute, just like I thought it would be!

Christmas projects

クリスマスに向けて作っていた編み物たち。
まずは主人のお姉さんとその子供にお揃いのLamb hat。
似合っていたなぁ。
I want to introduce the Christmas projects I had been working on.
At first, a Lamb hat for my sister in law and her daughter!
They suited them well.

主人の友人の4歳と1歳の子供たちに、乙女ピクシー帽を作ってみました。
Lamb hatと色違いの毛糸で、かぎ編みで作った花を散らしてみました。
I knitted the pixie hats for my friend’s daughters who are 4 years old and 1 year old.
I used the same wool as the Lamb hat and put some flowers on that I crocheted especially.

これはパターンなしで自分で考えてみたんだけど、、、
4歳の好みはなんだろう？
好きな色は？頭トンがってて大丈夫かな？
不安になりながら手探りで、かぶってくれる姿を想像しながら編み編み、、、。
I created the pattern, but…
I wasn’t sure which style they would like!
I didn’t know which colours they would like… Would a pointy hat be ok?
I was nervous, guessing and imagining…

、、、これは可愛い！Such cute hats!

なんて自画自賛。あは。
沢山かぶってくれると嬉しいな。

I want to praise myself 🙂
I hope they wear them a lot.

別のプロジェクトに取りかかっています。
ずっと編みたかったパターン、ずっと編まなくちゃと思っていた人に。
ずっと編みたいと思っていた毛糸で。
あ、でも秘密で。
I’ve also been knitting another project.
For a while now, I have wanted to knit this pattern with this wool for one particular special person… But I have to keep it a secret at the moment.

Christmas stocking

またまた日があいてしまいましたー。
さすが師走。なんだか忙しい日が続いていました。
I haven’t been updating for ages again because I have been so busy!

さて、息子のクリスマス用の靴下が出来上がり！これに紐をつけて終了です。
I finished knitting the Christmas stocking for my son.

パターンはRagg Wool Christomas Stockingから。
使用針は日本の7号、10号。使用糸はSchachenmayr NorthernのRot, Billart, Weiss。
The pattern is Ragg Wool Christmas Stocking.
The needles I used were JP #7 and #10. The wools were Schachenmayr Northern Rot, Billart and Weiss.

模様編みのところで新しいテクニックを併用してみたら目が激しく粗くなってしまって、あんまり納得いっていません。
だけどクリスマスに間に合う事が一番大事！という事でこれで良しとします。
踵のやり方も好きじゃなくて普通にラップアンドターンに、つま先も好きなやり方で減らし目しました。
I wasn’t convinced with the new pattern stitches technique I used because it appeared really rough!
But I knew the most important thing was finishing before Christmas!
I like neither the heel pattern nor the toe pattern, so I did wrap and turn for the heel and a technique I like for the toe.

こちらでは良い子にしていたら、サンタがプレゼントをこの靴下にいっぱい入れてくれるんだそう。
英語ではストッキングって言うこれ、主人の子供の頃は毎年本物のストッキングを用意していたそうです。
そう、いわゆるパンスト！笑
「グランマが履くハイウエストの」って！笑
ベージュとか？透けてんの？
いや、一応暗い色にするらしいです。
片足だけじゃなく両足にパンパンに詰め込まれたグランマのパンスト。
なかなかシュールです。
In England, if you have been a good boy/girl, Santa comes to fill up the stocking with lots of presents.
When my husband was a child, he put out a real a pair of stockings every year.
Yea, a pair of real grandma’s high-waist stockings! Were they beige? Were they transparent?
No, he chose dark colour ones, but… it’s quite funny to see these stockings on Christmas Day, isn’t it!?

他の編み物もちょこちょこ仕上がってるんですが、クリスマスプレゼントなので後日upします。
でも全然編めなかったなぁ。
編み物に関して完璧主義な私は、気に食わなかったら迷わず編み直します。
もちろん今回も。
睡眠時間を削って編み直してを繰り返して、扁桃炎になりました。
風邪じゃないので移らないのがせめてもの救い。

I finished some knitting projects, but these are Christmas presents, so I’ll update the blog about them later.
I couldn’t knit that much…
I’m a perfectionist about knitting, so if I don’t like something, I will choose to re-knit without hesitation.
I had to each of these times as well.
I kept re-knitting and cut down on my sleep, and then I got tonsillitis.
It wasn’t good idea!

Charity shops gems

昨日チャリティーショップで編み物本をゲットしました〜。
I got this knitting book from a charity stop in my town.

全部が思い切り私好みで、出会っちゃった♡って感じです。
裏切らない1ポンドという安さ。
Everything in this book is my cup of tea! Oh… I found you, darling ♡
and it was only £1.

時間ないとか言いつつ、編みたい物を増やしていくのが編み物中毒者の習性ですね。
Adding to the list of things I want to knit is part of my knitting addiction,
even if I keep telling myself that I don’t have enough free time to do them all!

見てるだけで楽しい！
Just looking at it is fun 🙂

これをお会計している時に、いろんな毛糸が少しづつ入った袋も出るんだけど、、、今日はないみたい。もう一軒のチャリティーショップに行ってみたら？と言われて、、、
When I payed for it, the lady told me they had a big bag of leftover wool sometimes, but not today. She told me to go to another charity shop to check whether they had any or not.
Then…

これもゲット。2.50ポンド。小物作りに最適。
I got some! It was £2.50.

この町に二軒しかないチャリティーショップでそれぞれ購入。
町をあげて私に編めと言っているのか？
私、編み物に愛されているのね？
I got both of these from the only two charity shops in my town.
Is my town telling me to knit now?
Am I loved by knitting?!

たった3.50ポンドで気持ちはパラダイス。
チャリティーショップ、バンザイ！！
Only £3.50 took my mind to paradise…
Viva charity shops!!

Autumn projects

はぁー。
全然更新していませんでした、、、。
10月11月が強烈に早く過ぎていきます。日が短くなったからですかね。
いよいよ寒くなってきて編み物の季節ですね。
皆さんは何を編んでいますか？

I haven’t been updating my blog recently..
I feel like time has flown by so fast this October and November.
It’s getting colder which means the knitting season is coming! What are you knitting now?

今月初めに「出来ました〜」報告をする予定だった旦那のセーター。

I wanted to post about the jumper I’ve been knitting for my husband at the beginning of this month.

襟が気に入らなくてやり直します。。。
でも心が燃え尽きてしまって、しばらく放置中。
そんな時間も編み物には重要って思っています。笑

I’ve decided to reknit the neck because it’s a little bit wonky
but I’ll leave it for a while because I burned out…
Having time for leaving a project and coming back to it later is important for knitting 😉

I think.

来月はクリスマス。
編みたいものがありすぎて、気持ちが急いてきています。
今考えているクリスマスプロジェクトだけでも4、5個？
終わるかなー？？

Christmas is coming next month!
I’m thinking about 4 or 5 Christmas projects, but it’s dependent on how I can make time.
Ummm… I wonder whether I’ll be able to finish knitting them before Christmas Day.

あとは余り糸でオーナメントをたくさん編みたいのだけど、、、
どう時間を作れるかと息子がよく寝てくれるかが勝負どころだなぁ。

I also want to knit a lot of Christmas baubles with my leftover wool.
I’m just impatient and want to do everything at once!!
Please please sleep well and give me time at night, my son x

More pixies!

更に3個ピクシー帽を編みました。

友達のベビー達に。

I knitted three more for my friends’ babies.

喜んでくれて嬉しかったなぁー。

改良を重ねていい感じのサイズ感を発見。サクサクっと1日で編めます。

転職しようかなー。笑

I was so pleased that they loved them!

I experimented with the pattern to make it fit well. I can knit it in a day now!

I wonder whether I should change my job to a pixie maker… 😉

両親教室で知り合ったイギリス人のママ友たち。

フェアで温かくて明るくて、つたない英語の私にも優しくて、

彼女たちと友達になれた私は本当にラッキーなんだと思う。

いつもいつもありがとう！

I met them at the antenatal class when we were pregnant.

They are fair, warm, cheerful and very kind.

I think I’m so lucky to be friends with them!

I’m always thankful about having these friends 🙂

Baby blanket for my son

いつ作ったかなぁ？今年の2月頃？
パターンはお馴染みRavelryからChevron baby blanket。
I wonder when I knitted this blanket… Maybe this February?
The pattern is ‘Chevron baby blanket’- from Ravelry as usual.

使用針は11号、使用糸は指定のBlue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cottonから

607 Lemongrass, 614 Drift, 601 Poppy, 604 Aloe and 630 Caribbeanを選びました。

The knitting needles I used were JP#11, and I used Blue Sky Aplacas Worsted Cotton which were the same wools the pattern used originally,

then I chose 607 Lemongrass, 614 Drift, 601 Poppy, 604 Aloe and 630 Caribbean.

肌触りが良くて、発色もとても綺麗な糸。
我が子がこれに包まる姿を想像しながらニヤニヤ楽しく編みあがり。

The texture of these wools are soft and smooth and the colours are really good.
While I was knitting I was imagining my baby being wrapped with this blanket…

I couldn’t help smiling!

そうそう、この時初めてLoveknittingのオンラインストアで買ったのですが、毛糸に対する愛を感じる包装で、、、
I bought these wools from the Loveknitting online store for the first time. The wrapping of the parcel was brilliant. I felt their love for wools…

オーガンジーの袋に入って、ほら、飴ちゃんが一緒に！
In an organdie bag with… a sweetie!

こんな風に送られてきた毛糸は初めてで、尚更、大切に使おうって思える。
This is the first time I’ve been sent wools like this. So I can feel that they’re precious.

最近追加で買った毛糸1玉に対しても。
They also did the same for another parcel of wool I bought recently.

私の愛も息子に伝わってるかなぁ。
I wonder whether my son can feel my love through the blanket.
